Mekkano ehf. is the controller of the personal data processed on this website. This page describes what the site collects, for what purpose, who is involved in the processing and what rights you have.
The site is first of all a presentation of the brands Mekkano distributes. It collects nothing about you unless you send it yourself, through the contact form or by taking part in a game at an event.

Contact form
When you send us a message through the contact form we ask for your name, your email address and the message. Company and phone number are optional. We use the details to answer your enquiry and to follow it up if business comes of it.
The message reaches us as an email. It is sent through Cloudflare and kept in our mailbox at Microsoft. The website itself keeps no copy of the message.
The processing rests on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and, where it applies, on steps taken at your request before a contract is made. We keep the correspondence for as long as it takes to deal with the enquiry and any business that follows.
Games at events
At events we sometimes run a prize wheel on the website. To take part you give an email address. We record the address, the outcome and a claim code. The address makes sure each person gets one spin, and the code is used to confirm a win.
The details are used only to run the game and hand out the prizes. They are deleted once the event is over and the prizes have been handed out. The address is not used for marketing and is not passed on to anyone.
Hosting and access logs
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like every web server, the hosting keeps access logs with the IP address, the time, the browser and the page that was requested. The logs are used to run the site and to protect it against abuse, and they are deleted after a short period under the host’s own rules.
Traffic measurement
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets no cookies and stores no identifier that follows you from one day to the next or from one site to another. We see how many people visit, not who.
Cookies and browser storage
The site sets no cookies for visitors. If you choose the dark or the light theme, the choice is stored in your browser, on your device, and is never sent to us.
Staff who sign in to the site’s admin panel get a login cookie. It applies only to people with an account.
Processors and transfers outside the EEA
Our service providers are Vercel (hosting, database, image storage and traffic measurement), Cloudflare (sending the contact form email) and Microsoft (our mailbox). They process the data on our behalf and on our instructions.
Vercel and Cloudflare are US companies, and part of the processing can take place outside the European Economic Area. The transfer rests on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its processing, to object to the processing and to receive it in a machine-readable form. Write to mekkano@mekkano.is and we will respond as soon as we can.
If you believe our processing breaks data protection law, you can complain to the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, Persónuvernd, at personuvernd.is.
Changes
If the site changes so that it collects something other than what is described here, we update this policy. The date at the top says when it was last reviewed.
